Theme: Artificial intelligence for Social Good in Benin Republic and Africa at Large

The organizing committee is happy to announce the second edition of the DeepLearning IndabaX Benin Republic Conference. IndabaX is a locally-organised Indaba (which means gathering originating from the Bantu people of Southern Africa) with the mission to strengthen Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in Africa. The IndabaX Benin Republic shares the vision and mission of the main body by doing its part to enhance knowledge and build capacity in machine learning and artificial intelligence in Benin Republic.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Artificial intelligence for Social Good in Benin Republic and Africa at Large.” At a time like this with the progresses made in the field of Artificial intelligence (AI), it has become necessary to leverage the power of AI for Social Good in Benin Republic and Africa at Large. AI technologies can be leveraged to address various challenges faced by the continent, such as healthcare accessibility, agricultural productivity, education quality, and economic empowerment. AI-powered solutions can help improve healthcare outcomes by enabling early detection and diagnosis of diseases, enhancing telemedicine capabilities, and supporting healthcare resource allocation. In agriculture, AI can provide farmers with valuable insights on weather patterns, crop diseases, and optimal farming practices, leading to increased productivity and sustainable farming methods. It is crucial to ensure ethical AI development and address potential biases to ensure that AI technologies are deployed responsibly and inclusively, considering the diverse needs and contexts of African communities. By harnessing the potential of AI for social good, Africa can leapfrog traditional development models and pave the way for a more prosperous and equitable future.
It is against this background that we call for poster presentations that will kick start educative conversations around AI and inform policy.

Submission Guidelines

• Poster presentations must focus on topics at the intersection of AI/ML and social good, ethics and bias of AI and/or other related areas.
• Poster should be A0 format with the following dimensions: Height = 10.5cm, Width = 8.5cm.
• Submissions may be in English or French only.
• All accepted submissions will be presented at the workshop.
